Mary Fries paints with acrylic, ink, charcoal, and oil pastel on canvas and paper. Fries (pronounced Frees) paints as a call to awakening—to inspire thought and action. Influences include Roberto Matta, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Joan Miro. Fries is currently using automatic drawing, ink blowing, and paint dropping in the spirit of open-mindedness and authenticity. Past work has addressed ecosystems and mathematics using a broader range of media. See maryfriesart.com for more work.
