Rachel Paxton received her BFA from Rhode Island School Of Design and her MFA from the School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
In the Boston area, Ms. Paxton is currently represented by the Clark Gallery in Lincoln. Her work has been exhibited at many galleries and museums there, including the Alpha Gallery, the Zoe Gallery, the Institute of Contemporary Art, the DeCordova Museum, the Rose Art Museum, the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Fuller Museum and many others. Ms. Paxton has exhibited her paintings in New York City at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, in Florida at Longstreth/Goldberg Art Gallery in Naples and at the Allyn Gallup Gallery in Sarasota. In addition, her work has been included in exhibitions in galleries in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Provincetown, Nantucket and Greenwhich CT.
Ms. Paxton’s work has been published in two books, Collage Art, by Rockport Publishers and New American Painters, 1998 Northeastern States, published by the Open Studio Press. Her paintings and collages have been reviewed by the Boston Globe, the San Francisco Examiner, New York Newsday, Art New England and many others.
From 1990-2000 Ms. Paxton taught painting and drawing at Rhode Island School of Design, Humbolt State University, Monserrate Collage of Art, the Art Institute of Boston, Emerson Collage and the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth. She is currently a full time painter and splits her time between Martha’s Vineyard and Jamaica Plain.
